JOB FAIR at the CORRIENTE XXI EBUS Conference
Lima (Peru) hosted by VUB and UPCH
19-23 September 2022
11 Ecuadorian and Peruvian staff members and 12 Ecuadorian and Peruvian students benefitted from mobility opportunities to attend this activity.
In September 2022, CORRIENTE XXI teamed up with the Open Science Conference
on Eastern Boundary Upwelling Systems (EBUS) from 19-23 September 2022 in Lima, Peru
(UPCH Campus, Miraflores) for the Workshop ‘CORRIENTE XXI – EBUS’ organised by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in close collaboration with Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) and our associate partner iMarpe.
CORRIENTE XXI hosted several side events with the main objectives to enhance graduates’ employability, raise awareness on active learning tools in the field of marine and freshwater ecosystem sciences and management; and disseminate CORRIENTE XXI objectives and outcomes.
CORRIENTE XXI hosted all the following events/activities:
- Student recruitment for UPCH Master programme ‘Marine Sciences’ (all days):
promotion booth for the master programme’s assets, skills, etc. and general information for enrolment.
- CORRIENTE XXI promotion (all days): dissemination of CORRIENTE XXI project
objectives, CORRIENTE XXI research-based and innovative fieldwork practices and curricula development, partners and outcomes.
- Job fair (all days): a side event for master students in the field of aquatic sciences and management to meet and talk to employers from different sectors (NGO’s, private sector, governmental institutions, etc.) and to increase employability.
- Early Career Scientist (ECS) Event (20/09): networking event for ECS, including
career advice from senior scientists working in different sectors.
- CORRIENTE XXI workshop (22/09): Presentations + debate: transboundary ecology,
policy and management + needs for matching and complementary views through
joint research and for investing in research-based and multidisciplinary academic
training for Young Career Professionals.
- EBUS Poster session (all days): promotion for student’s scientific work, which in turn also promotes student recruitment and employability.
Each participant will write an activity and mobility report on her/his experience that will be used to develop the training modules for the Master curriculum.
