On 19 June, 26 June, 1 July and 2 July 2020, the Coordinator ‘Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB)’ and the Joint Coordinator ‘Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL)’ hosted the 4 sessions of the online Kick-off Meeting of the Erasmus+ joint project in the field of Capacity Building in Higher Education; CORRIENTE XXI ‘Moving towards innovative education for research- based and sustainable management of marine and freshwater ecosystems'.
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Kick-off meeting, planned in the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador) in April 2020, had to be cancelled and replaced with an online alternative.
During this online Kick-off Meeting, all online participants were introduced to the project CORRIENTE XXI; the strategic orientations of CORRIENTE XXI, the framework for its implementation, the adjusted workplan and responsibilities of all CORRIENTE XXI partners.
The meeting was not only the perfect occasion to introduce the project, but also to discuss the capacity building needs of the partners in Peru and Ecuador. There is a high interest and sense of commitment for sharing best practices amongst all CORRIENTE XXI partners, including the associate partners and engaged stakeholders, to successfully execute this curriculum development project. In addition, all planned activities in 2020 were rescheduled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Out of the 89 invitations, this online event gathered 40 participants (session 1) and around 20 participants (per session 2,3,4). The agenda of the online CORRIENTE XXI Online Kick-off Meeting is available here.
